Balinese statues with real hair inserts are highly scarce , 

In the old tradition they only appear now and then.(see for example rv 370-890)

Our example of old man with rooster/chicken is made during the transition of traditional Balinese sculpture to sculptures made for sale. The combination of real hair, eyes with carved iris and the craftsmanship of the carved details  gives the statue a very  nice natural expression.

Condition is good, some hair lost and a small track on the back.
