A scarce brass cast shield from Aceh

Based on the design of the Indian Dhal the shield from Aceh was made out of rattan ( Peurise awe) adorned with brass stars or like this example made of cast brass. Nice old shield with old patina .

When tourism came up around 1930 on Sumatra a mixture of these two models in a smaller size of cast brass was made in large amounts for tourists and soldiers. However some are almost antique these models are often wrongly offered as original old Peurise Teumaga. ( see extra photo)
