Balato 1880

Very good Nias Balato sword with original charmball. The wooden hilt in the lasara style with grinning face ( compare with the ones collected by Modigiliani see pic).

The rattanball with crocodileteeth, molar and iron/tusk "upperjaw" , dressed up as Lasarahead. One kind of fossile "thing' forms the left eye of the lasara while the ear above it is formed by the molar. (Rigth eye and ear missing) See for a similar idea the drawing in an old article about Nias charms.

The wooden scabbard decorated with brass bands and brasswork on the long sides.

Original brass belthook. Filled agecrack in handle. The stand is included.
