An oldie from the Banjarmasin area with wooden hilt.

The blade has already the shape of the later Belabang swords.

Wooden scabbard with the typical double tunnel to fasted in hanging on a belt.

These swords have something in common with their family in South Sulawesi.

They must be very early and are pictured in an old drawing of Schwaners work who travelled in 1843-1847 in Borneo.

Condition is good, the blade has some rust spots and needs cleaning.

 

Mid 19 th century or earlier.
