Lopah Petawaran
A scarce ceremonial knife from the Gayo on Sumatra.
According Kreemer ( Atjeh I, Leiden 1922) used for incisions on the ears of waterbuffalo
The blade has pitting. Due to the ceremony where the knife was baptized in water with flour most lope's are in a bad condition. On this example the handle is however in a very good condition and fully made of silver. Scabbard is revised.
