High quality Namban tsuba with naval theme depicting a European gallion with full sails in the sea.  Such tsuba where often made in Nagasaki  where the Dutch VOC had their monopoly position on the island Desima.

A tsuba with similar design is pictured in an cataloque of the Sieboldhouse in Leiden.
