Padri Matchlock gun

A traditional Sumatran Matchlock with long twisted barrel, hardwood stock and brass casted lockparts

Guns of this model where already scarce around 1900, Westenenk described in his article in 1908 already a more ceremonial use of these guns, complete with elegant moves of the shooter before and after the shot. Once they have been used for serious warfare but after the destruction of an important factory in 1822 in Tanah Datari it never came to production on a large scale anymore.

This example is still complete, springfuction is weak and has already had a early restore. Traces of use but overall for his age , a very good example.
