Royal Sumatran sword
A very rare Sumatran sword with Ivory pommel and very nice grip with fine filigrain gold work.
The blade is very long and slender, possibly a very old European made example.
The wooden scabbard covered with red lacquered silk.
Blade with clear traces of use and pitting.
The sword is most likely made for a local ruler as status object.
Seen to the long and flexible blade it is possible that it has served once as executioners sword.
The gold parts are tested 9-14 K
Sumatra early 19th century.
Size total: 90 cm.
Blade: 69,5 cm.
