Sangihe Box
A very scarce sirih or sewing box from Sangihe.
The sides decorated with very fine beadwork.
The upper and inner decorated with koffo plait work ,
Koffo is made from fibers from banana plants and was only done on the Sangihe Islands
The edges are decorated with orchid leaves
Not many of these boxes have survived.
Small losses , but overall in a quite reasonable condition.
End 19th century
