A rare and early Kutai area mandau with old style face grip. The blade with inlayed stars in silver and brass. Very nice scabbard with reddish patina ,nice carved motifs and carved bone/ivory panel.

Seen to the unusual big stars and the carved bone panel on the scabbard probably once owned by a high placed dayak. Some light damage to scabbard.​
